Study Data: Accidental death benefits (ADB) cover deaths resulting from falls, drowning, motor vehicle accidents, and other accidents, but such contracts also pay benefits when an insured's death results from homicide and the specific cause is otherwise not excluded by the contract. Current, publicly available, data on accidental death experience from non-insurance industry sources was used. As current percentages covered by individual life insurance are nearly identical, tables for both males and females have been developed (See SOA Table Identity 1490). Methodology: Consistent with the 1959 ADB table (See SOA Table Identities 703 and 704) the 1996 table has been constructed to represent standard underwritten accidental death coverage such as would occur in ADB riders attached to ordinary life policies. NOTE: The Central Age Table is listed first then Individual Age Table. For the Central Age Table, values apply to a range of ages, such as 0-4, accordingly the table is coded with the value applying to the central age in the range.
